Good afternoon ladies. I wanted to briefly touch base and give you an "idea" of what is being planned for game day. The principal of WHS, Mr. Tisdale, has requested that the spirit groups do a pre-game performance of some type. With the limited amount of time to practice and the broad range of ages, we "thought" it would be a good idea to PACK the field with girls from Lancerettes, Redline and Cheerleaders to do the hand routine we use to do in Lancerettes to the song The Stripper (how ironic...ha). The majority of you will remember that hand routine since we did it at every game for the entire four years we were at Woodlawn...ha! If not, we will teach it to you on Saturday prior to the game. There was some discussion about the cheerleaders doing a cheer and the Redline doing the traditional high kick routine but, we felt time would not allow us to perfect performances of these types. The purpose of the performance is symbolic and the goal is to have as many individuals as we can have on the field; therefore, we decided to do something we could keep simple and everyone could participate in. We are attempting to price red/white "inexpensive" gloves so that the performance will be more appealling to the crowd. In that regard, we need an estimated head count of those who would like to participate in this pre-game performance. We understand it may seem somewhat silly but, we think it could be a blast for everyone! Please let me know if you can/will attend. It is hard to please everyone when you have such a large group but, any ideas you may have with regard to the pre-game performance are more than welcome.
Also, Mr. Tisdale has requested that all the past homecoming maids and queens line the field during the half-time presentation of this year's Court. I need help in locating all these individuals as well. I have been working my way through 50 years of names on Facebook but, if you could assist me by trying to locate those from your class...that would be awesome!
Mr. Tisdale has also requested that prior to the game ALL alumni (male and female) line both sides of the locker room all the way to the field so the boys can run through the tunnel of alumni prior to the game. There will be a banner that the boys run through and he wants all cheerleaders, lancerettes/pep squad and Red Line to join the current spirit group by lining up on the other side of the banner to cheer the boys on as they run through the sign. Obviously any hand poms or noise makers would make this a more festive.
With ALL this in mind, there are a ton of people who need to be contacted. 50 years is alot of years to cover and I need your help. Also, please assist us by passing along this information to all our fellow Knights! I need email addresses for so I can keep everyone informed of the schedule or changes so ask anyone you contact to please contact me.
I am waiting on further confirmation of a few things from Mr. Tisdale but, in the interim, I wanted to provide you with a tentative schedule so that you can be prepared. BELOW IS THE TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:
4:00 p.m. - Pep Rally at WHS. Mr. Tisdale has requested that we do some type of performance at the Pep Rally but with only one week to prepare, I am not sure we can pull this off. However, if we have a large enough group who can commit to doing such a performance, I can come up with something for us to do. However, I will need to know ASAP!!!!!
9:00-10:00 a.m. Pre-Game Practice at Captain Shreve Stadium for all former spirit groups, dance line, etc.
10:00a.m.- 2:00p.m. - Tailgate Parties at Captain Shreve Stadium. It is my understanding the classes from the 70s will have their own tailgate party so if you are from the Class of 1970, you may want to get in touch with Leo Savage. If you are from any other class, you are invited to attend our tailgate party as all classes (even those from the 70s) are invited to attend our tailgate party. We are still working on the logistics of this but, we have entertained the following ideas:
1. Have grills available for those who want to bring their own food and be responsible for cooking it. Paul Holomon has a huge set up on a trailer that he has offerred for our use. We also have access to a second set up from a local business.
2. Hire the Hot Dog guy to set up his cart and sell hot dogs and chips. The owner of this stand has been selling hot dogs in downtown Shreveport since the 80s and they are wonderful. They are on homemade buns with all the fixings. He has a cute little cart with a red/white tent. This is easy as it requires no setup or cleanup by anyone. He would simply charge each individual for the price of the hotdogs. Most of the group that has been meeting lean toward this idea since it is simple and requires the least amount of effort; however, we are open to any other ideas as well. We definitely need an accurate estimate of people if we go this route.
3. Locating a large tent(s) and setting up tables.
4. Locating a sound system that we can play music from the 60s through the 90s.
Any ideas you have with regard to the tailgate party would be great! If you have access to any of the above things, please let me know. Anyone attending the tailgate party will need to bring chairs and their own drinks.</

Thanks! Hi Midea;
Thank you so much for your input. As we are yet in the initial stages of planning, all of your suggestions have been and are being considered. We will certainly keep you posted as well as host conference calls in the very near future for those who don’t live in the city.
Good to hear from you!
Timothy Jones
Updates and information Tim, I hope all of the meetings progress smoothly as anticipated. For those of us who live out of town and will not be joining in on any of the discussions, could you post questions, suggestions, updates. If you do not have a person that handles the correspondence that will probably be coming your way, this is a good time to get one.
I know that my family will be arriving on that Friday evening. What are the plans outside of the football game? Are you planning on getting a design for T-shirts (family or just classmates and how much)? The T-shirts would be a great idea if you are wanting us to represent well at the homecoming game. Also, have you spoken with the school so that a section can be garnered off for the alumni? Will we be tailgating before the game on the campus grounds or wherever the game will be held?
Yes, as usual, I have a myriad of questions lol. Take care and definitely keep me posted. I am sure more suggestions and questins will come as time progresses. I do know that if we are wanting to get shirts, we need to press forward with that as soon as possible. That is only because you would want the screen to be done and orders to be placed.
Thanks Dea class of '86

Alumni Meeting - June 19 Greetings Knights!
We wish to thank those of you who were able to attend the initial meeting. It was really nice to see and/or meet each of you. One of the suggestions was to meet twice monthly. Thus we will meet on the first Thursday (evening) and the third Saturday (morning or mid-day) of each month. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. The location will be in the library at our beloved Woodlawn. For those of you who live out of town, this will be an excellent time for you to participate in the planning if you are coming home for Father's Day. Please feel free to express your suggestions here on the message board.
Timothy Jones ('87)
